This weird wonky world
Warning, this is very far from my normal content and quite close to a rant perhaps.
I was reading an article by Katie Jgln titled Are we “proudly flaunting our boobs”, or do we simply have boobs and exist? where she talks about how to over-sexualisation of female breasts being out of control. Chances are that it’s not a topic you’ve thought much about and while it’s not exactly my topic here either, it is probably what sparked the thoughts I am now blurting out onto this digital paper.
In her article she talks of how women are still to this day seen and treated differently to men. She mentions how males have nipples with no purpose other than to be stimulated and yet it’s considered perfectly acceptable to walk around with those nipples exposed. Yet, the female nipple, which is primarily a utility designed to feed and nurture infants and only secondarily to be stimulated, must be covered at all times and is considered offensive and vulgar. These days, even the perfectly natural and normal act of breast-feeding a baby is considered by some to be disgusting. What’s even worse is that other women are among those who demonise a woman for breastfeeding her baby. Yet at the same time there would be scorn and disgust if they were to let the baby scream. It’s a lose — lose situation.
