Making a difference
There goes the little man
Do you support the local small family businesses over the convenience of big corporations.
As I stop in at a small cafe that’s recently opened but struggling to gain traction I pause for a while as they prepare my order and I think about how long they will survive.
The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is nice and most importantly, the coffee is good. But… and there always is one… the location is not great and there is a bunch of empty shops surrounding them which further detracts from their prospects.
After a few moments my coffee is ready in a nicely decorated take away cup so I can continue on my way. I thank the man and walk out of the cafe, past the tables and chairs, all empty save for one guy in the far corner staring off into the distance. I’m reminded of a song by Alan Jackson. Little Man.
It’s often easier and cheaper to stop at a larger chain store and grab a coffee, especially when it’s on the way. It’s all about convenience these…
