Thanks Frank. From what I’ve seen in the linux community there is possibly more resistance against it than in support of it. I think that is probably based a lot on not really understanding it moreso than anything else. There is of course those that don’t want to release any control over what they consider their base system.
I’m not even sure it’s an attempt to capture the mac/windows user base either as I am unsure if a lot of that group would understand or see the benefits of it. The more I think about it, the more it seems to make sense as a way to go forward. A more stable core system and userspace package management should mean that it’s almost impossible to “break” the system.
