Photography goals for 2023

With 2022 finished and a new year starting I wanted to think a bit about what my photography goals will be for this new year. I’ve been in a bit of a rut if I’m honest and so my primary goal would be to break out of that rut and get back into photography properly.

Since I shutdown my photography business some time ago and decided to go back to having photography as something I enjoyed as a hobby instead of the stress of trying to make it a business that had to pay the bills, I’ve noticed a decline in the time I spend actually doing photography. Part of that comes down to having a non-photography day job that I need to do to pay the bills and not making time outside of that. Part of it I think is related to gear. It’s increasingly less enticing these days to go out with a big DSLR and chunky lens and so sometime, even though I am really feeling like getting out and taking photos, I opt not to for that reason.

Yeah I know. It’s lazy. 😞

I thought that setting some goals might help break out of that rut. So, I’m thinking as I write about what these goals might be.

I’ve read a lot in recent times about how smaller more compact mirrorless cameras are great for all sorts of reasons. Some of the photographers I respect and follow here on Medium I’m sure would sing the praises…
