A strange thing happened to my old Nikon D750 DSLR this past weekend and I am not entirely sure why.
I had been out on a trip this past weekend and was primarily intending to do some milky way photography. I’ll write more about that separately.
I’d gone west, inland, from my place in south east Queensland here in Australia. My destination was a location with dark sky potential, far away from the light pollution of cities. I’d be camping for a few nights at this place with the intention of shooting the milky way, as well as possibly some other locations nearby.
I was there for three nights, two of which were clear enough for the milky way and one that was completely clouded over with the added bonus of some rain.
On the first and third nights we were up at 2am, once the moon had set and the skies were truly dark with only stars to offer any light at all. The third night was especially cold (for here) with a temperature (according to the weather service) of 4 degrees C. Despite this, we had no issues shooting the skies and watching the shooting stars fire off now and then.
