New Darktable release (3.8)

Let’s look at the new changes available in the newly released Darktable 3.8

At the end of December 2021 a new release of my go to RAW processing software Darktable came out. Let’s see what’s new in Darktable 3.8

New Shortcut System

Darktable 3.8 introduces a new shortcut system. This unfortunately means if you had any custom shortcut keys set, they will now be gone and you’ll have to set them up again.

This new system allows the use of other devices for shortcut keys including the use of MIDI devices and game controllers. According to the website: “You can now control virtually all of darktable’s functionality with buttons, knobs, sliders and joysticks as well as the keyboard and mouse”

I’ll be sticking with the traditional keyboard and mouse method but even that’s got some love.

“For those who want to continue just using the keyboard and mouse, you can now use single, double and triple clicks or key-presses, long-clicks, and mouse cursor movements in your shortcuts, for maximum flexibility.”

Canon CR3 Support
