It’s almost that time again and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.

I don’t know what your circumstances are this festive season but for me this time of year is usually a time when I become a bit of a Grinch. Mostly this is because of the chaos and commercialism this festive time has become. It’s almost impossible to go anywhere due to the roads being clogged with traffic and it seems every other minute there is a car accident. People spend way beyond their means buying gifts they don’t need and all too many families are split up and spending Christmas separated.

This year I’ve made an extra effort to not be so much of a Grinch. I chose to not let situations I can’t change affect my mood. People will be part of the chaos and consumerism and me being grumpy doesn’t change that. I’ve decided instead that in the pursuit of happiness that I will be grateful, which in turn will make me happier and less of a Grinch.

I’m sure my family is grateful as well.

I’ve got a list of things that I am grateful for as this Christmas day approaches and I hope that you do too because being grateful for what you have, no matter how meager it might seem, is the key to being a little more happy…. or at least a little less of a Grinch.
