I've just been having a look at the RX100mk3 (and the mk7 as well). It certainly seems to have decent features and the addition of the viewfinder on a small compact camera is nice.

One thing I'm not seeing for the little investigation I've done so far is the experience of changing settings. Is it a challenge to operate is semi-auto or manual?

I was looking at the likes of the Nikon Z fc or the Fujifilm X-T3 maybe because of the control knobs on the top that make it very quick and easy to change shutter speed, iso and exposure compensation. Plus I like the old school look of them. I don't know if there is any real benefit beyond that for the extra expense.

I suppose it's hard to remove myself from the mindset that the small compact cameras are less capable when in truth these days they probably aren't much less capable at all really.
