It’s beautiful

How do you judge a competition where to topic is “whatever you find beautiful”.

I recently participated in a competition run on an online photography community where the title was “It’s beautiful” and the brief for entries to the competition was “whatever you find beautiful”.

As I was going through the entries and voting for the “peoples choice” winner and thinking about the diverse and sometimes rather strange entries to this contest. It got me wondering how a contest like this is actually meant to work.

Everyone has different things that they consider to be beautiful, and what I consider beautiful might vary a lot from what you might consider beautiful. It’s going to be the same with everyone, which seems to me, to make it a very difficult to judge and probably very bias contest.

For instance. I consider abandoned things beautiful where as many other people would perhaps not.
