Industry leading chromakey software?

Testing the Chroma Key capabilities of IMerge Pro.

Recently I did some research into software used to do Chroma Keying for still photos. I was looking for something that would make the task of removing a green screen background in a photo and replacing it effortless.

I found IMerge Pro from FXHome who claimed to have industry leading keying for photo editing. I thought “that’s great, let’s give it a go.”

From their website they make it look like handling Chroma keying tasks is a simple thing, which is what I was looking for. They also offer an unlimited free trial (which you’ll need to work out how to use the software) that watermarks any saved images. Fair enough. I downloaded it to see how it would handle things. I started with the image they use to demo it on the website.

The result was not what I expected. Sure it worked, but it’s left the halo around the hair. A far cry from the example they showed. And yes, to be fair, they would have used a higher res image and spent time refining it to make it as best they could but still.
