I have to say that one thing I do often run into with my DSLR is the buffer capacity issues. Given the speed and affordability (not to mention small size) of high speed solid state memory these days I am a little surprised there isn’t cameras using that to get around buffer and slow card speed issues. Sure, it’s not removable like a SD or CF card but how hard is it to plug in the camera to download from. Or even plug in a storage device for direct transfer.

When it comes down to it you’re right, the lenses are more important than the body and also a significant investment that makes upgrading or changing platforms a sizeable decision to have to make.

Perhaps my assumptions about more modern cameras doing too much and not leaving enough for the photographer to learn isn’t entirely correct. Thanks for responding. I appreciate the point of view.
