Hi Debby. Darktable is an excellent RAW processing tool. It can operate on JPEG images as well but some of the raw only tools will be disabled. I do suggest looking at the manual on the website to discover how best to use the various modules darktable offers. There is also plenty of youtube videos that show tutorials on how to use it as well.
