Bee’s get all the credit but butterflies are helpful too

Once upon a quiet forest evening
A butterfly did flutter by
It’s silken wings with damp still gleaming
As if a rain storm was it leaving

It fluttered past, I know not where
I wondered, “did it have a care?”
Oh to live a life so free
To flutter on, aimlessly

I was hiking in the forest one day when a small detail caught my eye in a nearby tree branch. I was lucky enough to have stumbled upon a scene which I feel is rare to see.

I didn’t want to get to close and was thankful to have a longer lens already mounted to my camera, but even then I couldn’t get as close as I would have liked.

This butterfly clung onto the side of a chrysalis hanging from this spindly branch of this small tree. I captured a couple of images and left it in peace.

I’ve tried to photograph butterflies a few times in the past with varying levels of success. I’m keen to get a more suitable lens for this sort of thing and I am keen to visit the butterfly sanctuary near here for some more photo opportunities sometime soon.
