Everyone should keep a basic toolkit in their vehicle.

Even if you don’t know how to use them, someone might.

I personally keep a basic set of tools in my vehicle at all times. I also recommend that everyone does the same. I’m often met with the counter-argument along the lines of… “Well, I don’t know how to use them at all, so what’s the point?”

The point is. Even though you don’t know how to use them, doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t. If your vehicle stops working and it’s a simple fix, but something that needs a spanner, and you don’t have one then the whole ordeal becomes more complicated.

Even if you personally don’t know how to fix a car and wouldn’t know what to do with the tools, if someone stops to offer assistance (presumably before actual roadside assistance arrives) that does know what they are doing (but doesn’t have tools)… at least you came prepared.

It doesn’t have to be a top of the line set of tools and even something basic, like this Amazon basics set covers most of anything you’re likely to be able to do on the side of the road anyway.
