Does unique art even exist anymore?

In this digital age of inter-connectivity and unprecedented access to data as well as the increase of generative AI, does unique art even exist anymore?

It seems to me to me, that in this day and age as an artist, to claim your work is unique could be seen as exhibiting an overabundance of hubris. But is it?

Is it possible as a photographer (or indeed, any other artist) to truly create a unique piece anymore? With 57,246 photos taken every second, or a massive 5 billion photos each day. What right do you have to say that your photo is actually unique and worth peoples time to view over any one of those other five billion?

I sat down and tried to think of some subjects I could photograph that might be unique. I couldn’t. Anything I thought of, if searched online, already has photographs of it. Even some stuff I thought was really weird.

I’ve looked at articles on how to take unique photos that offer suggestions like “take photos of reflections in puddles” or “change your angle”.

Yawn. Hardly unique. It’s been done. A lot.
