Campfires and Sunsets

Two of my favourite things are campfires and Sunsets. In fairness, I’ve got a long list of things I love, not the least of which is a good cup of coffee, but there is something about a sunset (or sunrise) and a campfire that evokes more emotions.

The golden glow of a campfire, with the warmth of the flames and the scent of smoke. Watching the flames dance as the coals glow, hearing the pops and whistles as moisture burns out of the timber. For so long it’s been the domain of necessity whereas now it’s entertainment and a place for good times with good people.

Sunsets or sunrises themselves have a certain emotion they invoke. It could be warmth or cold, fresh air, maybe sea salt if you’re at a beach. Sunrises pair well with coffee, while sunsets tend to go well with a glass of Mead.

Campfires go well with Mead too. I think more people in this day and age could benefit from sunsets, campfires and a good Mead.

I for one would take a night of drinks with friends around a campfire, watching the sun set over a night in the city any day of the week.

How about you?
