International women’s day

A celebration of women

After all, without them, none of us would exist at all probably.

It’s international women’s day each year is about recognizing the contributions of women to society. It aims to help recognize and celebrate the collective achievements of women all over the globe to science, politics, business and everything. It’s great. I have no issue with it whatsoever.

Whether they see it or not. Whether the collective of men see it or not, women contribute massively to the world we live in, despite a history of inequality.

I personally wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for my partnership with an amazing, strong, talented woman who puts up with my crap and helps make this crazy weird life on this planet better each day.

She may not be in politics (thank goodness) or changing the world as a scientist, but she has changed my world and is changing the world for our children.

So take a moment today to contact the women in your life that have impacted your life for the better, if you can and tell them you appreciate them. If you’re lucky enough to be able to, call your mother. Tell your wife how much you appreciate them and all they do. Send a message to your siblings, friends… heck, send a message to a stranger if you want. Tell them you appreciate everything they do.

We shouldn’t only recognize the achievements of women on some specified day because we’re told to.
